Bloody Mary Shrimp

Bloody Mary Shrimp is a high-grade freshwater dwarf shrimp prized in aquariums for its deep, translucent wine-red coloration. It is a selectively bred variety of the species Neocaridina davidi.

This shrimp usually grows to about 2–3 cm (around 1 inch) in length and has a slender body with a smooth, segmented shell. Its most distinctive feature is its rich, dark red color that appears almost like red glass, giving it a glossy and luminous look under aquarium lighting. Unlike many other red shrimp varieties, the intense color in Bloody Mary Shrimp comes from pigmentation within the body rather than only in the shell, which creates a deeper and more vibrant appearance.

Bloody Mary Shrimp are peaceful and active scavengers that spend most of their time grazing on algae, biofilm, and small food particles found on aquarium plants, rocks, and substrate. Their striking color, hardy nature, and ability to breed in freshwater aquariums make them a popular and attractive choice for planted tanks and shrimp-focused aquariums.
